When looking at wedding venues, most couples want something beautiful but unique, and natural but perfectly manicured. But get married at a golf course? Suddenly a golfer in the background of your wedding photos pops into your head. But I’m here to tell you that will not happen! Contradictory to your initial thoughts, golf courses are actually an ideal place to tie the knot because they provide a gorgeous green landscape and backdrop to your day as well as a charming banquet space in the club house for your reception. They have gardeners working full time to keep up appearances for the golfers which is a bonus for your event! Read on for more reasons why golf courses are a Southern California Wedding Venue win!

The Scenic Backdrop

Golf courses provide the perfect scenery to your perfect Southern California Wedding. The landscape is peaceful, green and manicured to perfection. There is an entire landscaping team dedicated to just that, so why not take advantage of that for your wedding? Even more, they provide ample photo locations, and some even offer a golf cart ride for the happy couple so they can take advantage of even more picturesque locations around the course including bridges, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, rolling hills, and gorgeous sunsets.

A Perfect Blend of Elegance and Relaxation

Golf is a sophisticated sport so the courses provide a sophisticated ambiance which also caters to your event by creating a refined elegance with a laid-back atmosphere. The setting is elegant enough for your event but can easily feel relaxed as you party the night away. It’s a golf course where people gather to relax and have a good time whether it is golfing or celebrating your Southern California wedding day. It’s the perfect balance! You can even get away with wearing your favorite tennis shoes. We are all about customizing and making your event your own.

Versatility of Spaces

There is nothing like having a wonderland of options for customizing your wedding on a golf course. Some courses have multiple rooms to choose from for the reception and cocktail hour, and some even have multiple ceremony locations as well. Your wish is their command! For example, Los Coyotes golf course offers a terrace ceremony or a lakeside ceremony. Both options are absolutely beautiful, so you can choose based on your needs, preferences and the weather. The terrace is more handicap accessible and located on cement which is ideal for winter events, while the lakeside is perfectly nestled in a garden setting on the grass which is ideal for Spring and Summer weddings. Also, they can adapt each space to any size group whether it is intimate or grand! With a smaller party you can do the entire event on the terrace with the view, or you can make the grand ballroom smaller to create a more intimate space protected from the weather elements. All the spaces have floor to ceiling windows featuring the green landscape which creates gazing opportunities for you and your guests all night.

Golf Course Amenities

Want to simplify your wedding planning? Golf course weddings provide a large portion of your wedding amenities including but not limited to tables, chairs, linens, dance floor, catering, staffing, bar and bartenders, setup, cleanup and more! Some courses even include centerpieces and cake as well (of your design of course)! They make it so easy to feel pampered but also give you the freedom to customize what is important. Even more, most courses include ample and free parking for your guests! That can be difficult to come by in Southern California. Don’t forget to get your groom and groomsmen a tee time for a round of golf too! Why not expand the memories created into the actual course itself? Remember to put on a little sunscreen!

Tailoring the Experience

Don’t forget that it is your wedding, and you are allowed to go against the norm. Feel free to negotiate by taking items out of the packages and using it for something else. For example, just because they offer in-house catering does not mean you are required to use it. They can allow outside catering options if you would like to bring in unique cultures like Indian or Chinese food. One couple brought in a Chinese restaurant to cater their cocktail hour and reception with a 10-course family style meal to truly celebrate their heritage.

Golf courses can be a great blank canvas for any color, theme or design. We have seen them change completely from one wedding to the next using various color uplights, linens, and fun themes. Every theme is always elegant, always fun, always personalized and always fits nicely into the space at a golf course. And although you could certainly add golf into your theme, it is certainly not necessary. In the end, your photos will scream elegance and fun, but they don’t have to scream golf course.

Real-Life Stories

We absolutely love working with Golf Courses here in Southern California and we truly appreciate how each and every event is different despite it being located in a similar space. Los Coyotes Country Club has been a favorite of ours for over a decade and we do not tire of it! We have seen it all including live bands, rainstorm adjustments, Indian barats, a visit from movie characters, multiple outfit changes (which means multiple grand entrances), lion dancers, and so much more. Themes have ranged from rustic elegance, to Star Wars, from classic and elegant fairytales to Alice in Wonderland. They all are fun, and they all provide memories to last a lifetime for you and your guests.
