Discovering the Charms of the Richard Nixon Library & Museum

At the Nixon, there are multiple places you can chose from for your ceremony and reception. If you are looking for an outdoor space, the quaint cottage or the Pat Nixon Gardens will provide the perfect setting. You can choose to have the entire event outdoors in that space as well. The lawn itself can host up to 250 guests for a seated reception.

For an indoor celebration, you can host your reception in the stunning replica of the White House East Room. The East Room features magnificent crystal chandeliers, golden Italian silk draperies, marble fireplaces, and a gorgeous wooden terrazzo floor for dancing the night away. This 4,800 square foot space can accommodate up to 450 to 500 guests.

Crafting Your Vision: Themes and Decor Ideas

The Richard Nixon Library provides a backdrop that is effortlessly elegant and timeless. However, don’t be afraid to have some fun when you add your own personal touch to the favors, seating chart, cake and more! The venue’s standard (but absolutely unique) tuxedo napkin fold is always a hit (pictured below), but you can add in some American colors for a patriotic feel or add in your own design. Or, pick your own design to complement your party. If you keep your designs clean and classy like the seating chart below, it will be a hit! This particular wedding did not want the portraits of George and Martha Washington displayed, so you will see the perfectly blended white draping that was added to that wall to cover them temporarily. It is your day! Make it that way!

Planning Logistics and Practical Considerations

Venues like this one book up pretty quickly, so it is always a good idea to visit with a few dates in mind. Keep in mind, there is no outside alcohol allowed, you must go through security check on arrival, and they do require you to use certain catering (but don’t worry, their standards are very high). We also love that even the vendors are treated like guests behind the scenes (spoken from experience)! Now that’s classy. If it turns out to be the perfect venue for you, it is absolutely worth changing your date! The staff at this venue are top notch and will take care of you every step of the way. They do require that you bring in a coordinator as well to keep your event running smoothly (we would be absolutely honored to be considered), but you and I both know that you would have had one anyways, right? I mean, who is going to run the setup while you are getting dolled up, am I right? Check out the free downloadable planning checklist on our website to help guide you through your planning process.

Let’s conclude this venue review by saying, we absolutely loved working there and can’t wait to go back! Don’t forget to take a moment with an incredible photographer like Larissa to grab a photo like the one below. The reflection pond is stunning during the day but also incredibly and perfectly lit at night. We even added their name in lights for the perfect added touch!
